Abbreviation Explanation
BAF Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF): Freight item that is set monthly as a protection against oil price fluctuations.
Berth Term Berth terms. This expression is used for shipments under a charterparty. The purpose of these "terms" is mainly to clarify which side pays for the loading and discharging costs of the cargo.
B/L Bill Of Lading: A loading instruction document that contains all the detailed information about the sender and receiver, and information such as loading place and date, the place of delivery, type, amount, gross weight and delivery method of the goods.
CFS A CFS (container freight station) is a warehouse that specializes in the consolidation and deconsolidation of cargo.

CKD Complete Knock Down . A knock-down kit is a kit containing the parts needed to assemble a product. The parts are typically manufactured in one country or region, then exported to another country or region for final assembly.

DOC Destination Delivery Charge : A charge, based on container size, that is applied in many tariffs to cargo. This charge is considered accessorial and is added to the base ocean freight.
D/O D/O (Delivery Order)
ETA The estimated time of arrival (ETA) is the time when a ship, vehicle, aircraft, cargo, emergency service or person is expected to arrive at a certain place.
ETD In this respect, the phrase or its abbreviation is often paired with its complement, estimated time of departure (ETD), to indicate the expected start timeof a particular journey.
